This blog is really only useful if you check it regularly, like two or three times a week. But what if you forget? If you have a My Yahoo or Google homepage, or use a blog “aggregator” like Bloglines, you can subscribe to this page so you don’t have to always come back to check for posts. Instead, every time I put up something new, you’ll see a link and summary on that other page. Here are three different ways to do it:
Bloglines
This is how I keep track of the 40 or so blogs I follow. You can subscribe at http://www.bloglines.com though you may want to watch this 5-minute YouTube video that makes it all quite clear:
MY YAHOO instructions
Go to http://my.yahoo.com and log in. If you have a yahoo email address, you already have a My Yahoo page, even if you’ve never been there before. Find the little plus sign and click on the link to “Add Content.” Next to the “Find” button, there’s a small link that reads “Add RSS by URL”. Click on this. In the URL box that comes up, type this: http://jgarrigus.edublogs.org/feed/ and hit the button.
Now you get a screen that says “Get History of the Caribbean on My Yahoo”. Click the yellow button that says “Add to My Yahoo.”
Google Personalized Homepage Instructions
If you have a personalized Google homepage [anyone can set one up at http://www.google.com/ig] . Click on “Add Stuff” at the far right-hand side of the page. Next to the the button that says “Search Homepage Content” there’s a tiny link “Add by URL”. Click there and put the following into the box that comes up: http://jgarrigus.edublogs.org/feed/ and hit the button.
